What Are Augers Used For?

To put it simply, an auger is a spiral-shaped tool used to drill holes in materials and the ground. “Flighting” refers to the spiralling metal shaft with a blade at the end of the device. To cut, scrape, or syphon out drilling materials, the flighting revolves. During the blade’s rotation, debris from the drilled materials, such as soil or ice, moves along the flighting and out of the hole.

Augers are available for a wide range of drilling applications, and each model is made to function with particular materials, surfaces, or other specifications.The various names for augers, such as ice augers, grain augers, and power earth drills, can also be used to identify them.
